The 16th century castle was home to the Blake family of English nobles who lived there from 1569 up until a fire destroyed it in 1910. In this fire tragedy Blake’s lost his daughter, Eleanor, whose body was never found. Today, the vegetation covers with the green vines climbing the stone walls, showing how long it has been abandoned. The only building that is not covered by nature is the ruins of a small stone hut, which is just before you reach the castle. The French duo graffiti artists Ella & Pitr is known for the size of their works. The Duo's most recent graphite is called Le Naufrage de Bienvenu , or "The Shipwreck of the Well-Vindos." It was made 47 meters high in a dam on the river Gier, and required ten days of work. Known for portraying neglected groups such as the homeless or the elderly, and paints them in difficult proportions to ignore, this time the two decided to address refugees seeking a better life in Europe. The character holds a photograph in his hand, just the sight of the dam where Ella and Pitr [Instagram] did the drawing.
